Personal Trainers play a key role in supporting clients’ self-awareness, self-esteem, and lifestyle change. Trainers have long known that the body, itself, plays a key role as well. Clients need to develop the tools for coping with growing daily stress. Coaching clients toward deeper body awareness can open more doors to client success and adherence. In addition, trainers constantly need new skills to add to their repertoire in order to boost client retention.

“This program was excellent. I think all personal trainers would be very pleased to take this course. Adding the assisted training techniques to my client’s cardio, weight and core training gives my client’s programming a very ‘whole’ feel, and that’s what they deserve. Thank you for this experience.”

— Emily Kaster, Personal Trainer

Using the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy approach, learn to facilitate hands-on, safe effective methods of passive assisted stretching through: physiological understanding, proper alignment, and exploration of “edges” (thresholds that enhance flexibility, improve adherence to training, support stress release/relaxation, and deepen awareness of the mind/body aspects of movement). Develop Phoenix Rising Style active listening skills that support your client’s deeper internal process of self-awareness and well-being. (Note: No prior yoga experience is necessary.)

“I have learned that if I am confident enough to be quiet that I will learn from my clients what they need instead of only telling them what I think the answers are.”

— Kim Jacobs, Program Director and Personal Trainer

You will learn to:

  • Practically facilitate a minimum of 15 safe, effective trainer assisted stretches with appropriate alignment, modifications and variations for both the client’s body and the trainer’s body.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the edge (stretch threshold) as well as the nature, physiology and benefits of passive stretching.
  • Facilitate a client’s deeper mind/body awareness through movement and the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy methods of listening and responding.

“It was great to attend a course that was as beneficial to me as it may be to the people I work with. It had so many layers to it!”

— Melodie Huizenga, Physical Therapist

Prerequisite: Current Personal Trainer/Fitness Professional Certification or Degree in Associated Field.

“This client-directed work is counterpoint to a traditional trainer/ performance-directed session/agenda. Not only did I receive knowledge of how to better help my clients, but I came away with personal awareness I’d not had previously.”

— Michele Butler, Director of Personal Training
