Karen
Kaumudi Hasskarl
Co-director Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy
Karen began her study of yoga and meditation as a teenager, entering
the field professionally in 1988 as a Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher.
A few years later she began her training in Phoenix Rising Yoga
Therapy. Karen was initially appointed Program Assistants' manager
and, after a few years of working alongside Michael Lee, she stepped
from co-teaching to leading programs herself. Today she is Director of Certification Programs. Karen has provided support and training for over 150 mentors and 900 students.

Elissa Cobb, M.A., A.C.E., A.C.S.M.
Co-director Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy
Elissa has more than twenty years of combined practice and teaching experience in fitness/health consulting, body/mind and movement practices, Yoga and Yoga Therapy. She has a Master’s Degree in Embodiment Studies, is a Certified Advanced Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner, a Certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Teacher, and Certified Phoenix Rising Group Facilitator. She is also an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and has ACSM Personal Trainer Certification. Elissa studied with Michael Lee for several years and now leads Phoenix Rising training programs nationwide, she is also an active speaker at mind/body industry conferences and will be publishing her first book, The Forgotten Body, in 2007. |

Quinn
Sale, L.P.C., L.M.F.T.
Clinical Advisor Quinn graduated as a Phoenix Rising Practitioner
in 1991 and is also a Licensed Professional Counselor with 25 years
experience. She supports Phoenix Rising faculty and student body in training
for working with abuse survivors, learning how to lead “A Taste of Phoenix Rising” demonstrations and managing professional ethics and boundaries.

Ruth Jacobson, Ph.D.
Ruth is a Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in
North Carolina. She is also a yoga teacher, group and workshop
leader, and Phoenix Rising practitioner and mentor. Ruth was appointed as a
member of the Phoenix Rising faculty in 2003 after an extensive
apprenticeship and training with Karen and Michael and will be leading
Phoenix Rising Training programs in the west, midwest, and Canada. She has developed and will be leading “Listening to the Body: Phoenix Rising Approach for Mental Health Practitioners.”

Jesse Lee
Jesse Lee is best known for her work as a yoga teacher and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner and as a presenter at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health. Jesse is widely recognized as an inspirational teacher using her immense experience, limitless warmth, and a healthy dose of humor to motivate groups and individuals in her workshops and programs. Jesse regularly tours the United States teaching self discovery workshops and promoting her yoga CD "Coffee Breaks: Perfect Yoga for an Imperfect World."

Wendy Black Stern
Wendy holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology in psychology from the University of Massachusetts. She is a Certified Hatha Yoga teacher, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner and Group Facilitator in private practice in Boulder, Colorado.

Soleil Hepner
Soleil is a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner and Group Facilitator in private practice in Seattle, Washington. She has 18 years experience as a high-tech manager and coach and nearly three decades as a teacher and student of dance, yoga, performance and healing arts.

Achalan
Gene Barnett, M.A.
Achalan became a Phoenix Rising Practitioner in the San Francisco
area in 1993. He became a mentor soon after and currently serves
as assistant program manager and senior mentor for our Level 3 program.
He trains new mentors and offers ongoing support and guidance for
them during their term.

Megan
McDonough
Megan is a business yogini, teaching business to yogis and yoga
to business people so that all can work with less stress and more
freedom. She is author of "Infinity in a Box: Using Yoga to Live
With Ease," editor of "A Minute for Me" and moderator of "Mindful
Marketing."

Carolyn
Kildegaard, M.A., RYT
Carolyn Kildegaard has thirty years of experience practicing and teaching Yoga and she is the founder of Island Yoga on Martha's Vineyard. She is a Certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, Yoga Teacher and Group Facilitator. She teaches the Yoga Philosophy portion of the PRYT Yoga Teacher Training which was created as part of her Master's Degree Program in East/West Psychology. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance. Carolyn is a counselor at Island Counseling and is committed to helping people change patterns of addiction, violence, anxiety and depression.

MICHAEL LEE, M.A., is the founder of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. He is the author of Turn Stress Into Bliss: The Proven 8-Week Yoga Program for Health, Relaxation and Stress Relief, and of "Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy - Bridge from Body to Soul" and contributing author to “Beyond Talk Therapy – Using Movement and Expressive Techniques in Clinical Practice" published by the American Psychological Association. He was Keynote Speaker at the International Yoga Conference in Singapore in 2001 and a guest presenter for the International Yoga Teachers Association Annual Workshop in Sydney, Australia. He has also presented his work in the UK, Europe, and most US and Canadian cities. He lives with his family in Massachusetts and also spends time alone meditating, writing, and hiking in the North Woods of Maine. Michael is an experienced pilot with a passion for aviation, the outdoors, and spirituality as it relates to life experience.
