What
clients say . . .
| "I really felt
Phyllis was present and responsive. Her touch, voice, and pace were
soft and gentle. I felt safe and secure in her hands. Phyllis led me
to a place I wouldn't have gone on my own, and helped me reach a type
of 'knowing' I'm not accustomed to. Body, mind, and spirit were in cahoots
today!" |
— L.S.
Art Therapist
|
| "Phyllis is very
much in tune and sensitive with the person receiving the session. She
helped by gently guiding me into a response about what's happening to
me. She is genuine in the treatment and receptive to my limitations.
Thanks Phyllis." |
— Bettina T.
Accounting Coordinator
|
| "After my session
I felt less body pain, was more relaxed and was able to let go. I believe
Phyllis is a natural healer. She is a very easy person to open up with
and trust on a mental and physical level." |

What is Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT) and who is it for?
- Have you experienced illness, grief or trauma?
- Do you seek deeper access to your creativity?
- Do you want to deepen your relationships?
- Do you want to release the stress of business, commuting and other daily obligations?
- Do you question your responses to life's events?
- Do you seek greater self-awareness?
If you answered "'yes" to any of these questions, perhaps a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Session is right for you.
PRYT sessions can be transformative, revealing, healing and relaxing. They can help
reveal how life pressures affect your body, health and moods. Sessions may also help you to focus, discern, and integrate information in your personal and/or professional life. And best of all, you do not need any yoga experience. Phyllis guides you into the pose, then holds and supports you in the yoga stretch.
Sessions are for EVERYONE! Men and women, in individual, couple, small private class or corporate venues. Stay-at-home moms/dads, attorneys, doctors, nurses, caretakers, executives, entertainers, authors, singers, musicians, people with disabilities/illness, PTSD, depression, life transitions…. Couples are anyone in a relationship, including parent/teen-aged or adult child; friends, workmates, any two people wanting some focus, clarity, understanding and/or healing for their relationship.
In a nonjudgmental, nurturing, and respectful setting, Phyllis utilizes assisted yoga postures and guided breathing throughout the session. You are safely brought to your edge of physical sensation – the amount of stretch for you that feels "just right" – not too much and not too little. Here, with focused awareness and practitioner support you enter a dialogue. It's not about fixing or analyzing anything. You simply tune in and listen to your body's wisdom without judgment or the need to change anything. You may release underlying tension, emotions, or beliefs that have manifested in chronic pain. And you may feel deeply relaxed as a result.
While most sessions take place on the floor on a comfortable, thickly padded yoga mat, sessions can be adapted for people who can’t get down on the mat comfortably, or who are bedridden. Accommodations can also be made for people who do not want to be physically touched.
Sessions Support and Invite:
- the release of fears, anxieties and stress
- enhanced body awareness, strength and flexibility
- more clarity around life issues
- deep relaxation
- letting go of your 'critical' self
- and many other deeper and substantial benefits

About
Phyllis
Phyllis Solomon
turned to yoga for her own healing more than 17 years ago
to heal a lower back injury which six months of physical therapy failed to mend. She has also experienced two life-altering bouts with cancer and, through her yoga practice, began to realize the connection between how
she dealt with stress in her life and the tensions she held in her body.
Treatments left Phyllis with a speech impediment and while this may have stopped others, Phyllis, with humor, patience, perseverance and persistence, has continued to give yoga therapy sessions and also became a certified yoga teacher in 2009. Yes, you will definitely notice her ‘new’ voice, and might have to listen differently at first, however, clients and students have found Phyllis’ new voice, attitude, and enduring spirit inspirational.
Phyllis holds a Bachelor's degree in psychology from CalState LA, a Master's degree in Marital and Family Therapy with a specialization in Clinical Art Therapy from Loyola Marymount University, and became a PRYT Practitioner in early 2004. As a certified PRYT Practitioner and yoga teacher, Phyllis blends the healing power of yoga with her life experience and formal education.

The
meaning of the Purple Turtle
I am often asked why I chose the logo of a turtle for my yoga business.
In fact, in one of those enlightening instances where the Universe moves quickly to bestow a gift — the turtle chose me. Click here for the story.
