About
Phyllis
Individuals
and couples can experience Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy with Phyllis
Solomon, certified practitioner.
Phyllis Solomon
turned to yoga for her own healing more than 13 years ago
to heal a lower back injury which six months of physical therapy failed to mend. A few years later she experienced a life-altering bout with cancer and through her yoga practice, began to realize the connection between how
she dealt with stress in her life and the tensions she held in her body.
This spurred a successful self-healing journey and a desire to help
others. Cancer-free for more than 10 years, she shares this knowledge
to help people better manage stress and related illness in their lives.
Phyllis holds a
bachelor's degree in psychology from CalState LA and a master's degree
in Marital and Family Therapy with a specialization in Clinical Art
Therapy, from Loyola Marymount University. As a certified Phoenix Rising
Yoga Therapy (PRYT) Practitioner, Phyllis blends the healing power of
yoga with her life experience and formal education.
A successful small business owner for 14 years and a native of Los Angeles, Phyllis plans to open The Purple Turtle Healing Arts Center in the future. She says the best
thing about Phoenix Rising is that it has taught her to have a better
relationship with herself, which allows her to have deeper, closer,
more meaningful relationships with others. She finds the work empowering
and very healing.

Anatomy
of a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT) Session
PRYT sessions can
be transformative, revealing, healing and relaxing. They can help
reveal how life pressures affect your body, health and moods.
The session begins
with a centering, where you let go of your day and focus on yourself
and your body. Next, Phyllis guides you through a body scan, where you
check in and become more aware of all of your body parts, taking note
of anything that comes up. You may do some very simple supported warm-up
exercises before Phyllis guides you into yoga poses, which are chosen
based on your dialogue and your focus for the session. In a safe and
nurturing environment, she holds and supports you in the yoga stretch,
allowing the body to fully relax and the mind to let go of typical thinking
patterns. At this point, you may become aware of recent, past or unconscious
feelings or incidents. Phyllis maintains a dialoguing process throughout
the session to guide you to your own discoveries and conclusions. As
the session ends, Phyllis guides you through an integration, where you
can begin making connections between the results of the session, your
life and your responses to life.
While most sessions take place on the floor on an oversized, thickly-padded, comfortable yoga mat, sessions can be adapted for people who can’t get down on the mat comfortably, or who are bedridden. Accommodations can also be made for people who do not want to be physically touched.
Benefits:
- release fears, anxieties and stress
- enhance body awareness, strength and flexibility
- gain clarity around life issues
- deep relaxation

What
clients say...
"I really felt
Phyllis was present and responsive. Her touch, voice, and pace were
soft and gentle. I felt safe and secure in her hands. Phyllis led me
to a place I wouldn't have gone on my own, and helped me reach a type
of 'knowing' I'm not accustomed to. Body, mind, and spirit were in cahoots
today!" L.S., Art Therapist
"Phyllis is very
much in tune and sensitive with the person receiving the session. She
helped by gently guiding me into a response about what's happening to
me. She is genuine in the treatment and receptive to my limitations.
Thanks Phyllis." Bettina T., Accounting Coordinator
"After my session
I felt less body pain, was more relaxed and was able to let go. I believe
Phyllis is a natural healer. She is a very easy person to open up with
and trust on a mental and physical level." Dawn Lucia, Licensed Acupuncturist/Herbalist,
