Clients are saying . . .
"She gently puts me into a yoga pose and holds it there at the limit of my stretch, sometimes I talk about how it feels, and then as the tissue releases, there is sometimes also an emotional release, a memory or a thought- and then all of me feels this powerful release. It’s very nurturing and relaxing"
— Jen, RMT
"I feel like I learned which path I need to follow next. Amazing that the answers were within my own thoughts the whole time!"
— Kim, esthetician
"Allowing thoughts to connect to the body. When I was in certain positions, old hurts came up and it allowed me to let them go. The body manipulations took me to vulnerable and yet safe places in myself."
— Kathy - artist, mother
"I really enjoyed this session, and how it integrated release on many levels- of thoughts, of physical stress, of nervous anxiety, etc. Very well-rounded therapy."
— Leah, student

The mind is like the wind and the body like the sand:
if you want to know how the wind is blowing,
you can look at the sand. |

Her experience with many different physical trainings as well as in art, self-healing, and meditation, Kathleen has observed how valuable our bodies are in understanding our life’s purpose, and connecting to our lives in the most present way possible. This awareness most fortunately brought her to the emerging field of body-centered psychotherapy and the world of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. Since then she has continued to be inspired by the Phoenix Rising organization – a school, an ethical business and a caring community which truly embodies the philosophy of yoga and “walks their talk” in all aspects of their organization.

Services
A Phoenix Rising Yoga therapy session is all about learning to listen – listen to what information our thoughts, feelings and inner wisdom may be communicating to us when we pay attention to our physical bodies.
Both Phoenix Rising Yoga classes, and individualized sessions, use basic yoga postures, breath work and simple dialogue in order to explore what comes up in the present moment. Increasing our self awareness in this way can be quite surprising and deep, which can cause shifts around a specific illness or issue, facilitate emotional healing, reduce stress, or gain clarity with life issues and goals.
You’ve got to feel it to heal it. |
— Michael Brown,
The Presence Process

Many of us may be carrying around old wounds or emotional baggage, somehow stuck in our bodies and minds and manifesting as discomfort on some level. Phoenix Rising yoga therapy facilitates a way into those “old” or “stuck” places, allowing awareness to effect change on some level of our experience and bringing us a more general sense of health and well-being.
PRYT is all about you – sessions are done one-on-one, and no prior experience in yoga is required. The majority of a session will be comprised of hands-on, assisted postures with breath work and modern pyschotherapeutic dialogue (the therapist repeating back and validating what the client says.) With guidance, you’ll create your own affirmation and action step to help you to integrate your new awarenesses into your life.
