Amanda's experience of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy has allowed her to heal from her deepest pain where no other practice had succeeded before. Her experience of being witnessed and held safe in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy sessions was her opportunity to release the darkest parts of her grief and sadness. Because of her profound experience and resulting healing, she is truly passionate about sharing the work of Phoenix Rising with others who deal with difficult loss. Her experience brings authentic strength and presence to her sessions and an ability to allow your release of powerful emotions without interference. She respects and believes in your own ability to access inner guidance and healing. She knows from experience that true joy and happiness are possible even after profound loss. But it is also her experience that gives her a humble respect for the unique timing and quality of your process; a belief that your mind, emotions, body and spirit are not only sources of wisdom but can hold obstacles that need to be honored and handled with loving-kindness and unlimited patience. Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy - Basic Session Information
What happens in a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Session? Guided Meditation - Your session begins with a Centering meditation to expand your awareness of body, mind, emotions, and spirit in the present moment. Your session ends with an Integrating meditation which creates your opportunity to choose practical tools and action steps to bring into your everyday life. Conscious Breath - Throughout your session Amanda invites you to use your breath as a tool for being fully present in the moment. Assisted Yoga Postures - Amanda will physically assist and guide you into various simple yogic postures such as stretches for your legs, back or arms. Postures can also be assisted with yoga props or guided verbally if that is preferred or necessary. This attention to your breath and body can often produce a range of emotions, words, memories, images, colors, sounds or smells. Through your experience of the postures you will approach and explore "edges" in yourself. These edges can be defined as the limits of your comfort zone, that, when explored, can expand your understanding and allow you to grow and heal. Therapeutic, open-ended dialogue - Amanda asks simple questions such as "What's happening now?" to invite your exploration. She also "Mirrors," repeating back your observations. This gives you a unique perspective on your moment-to-moment experience. She coaches deeper exploration by saying "Tell me more. . . " This approach empowers you to find your own answers.
