Everything you need to know is inside of you.

Pam Herdy attended her first yoga class over 16 years ago upon a friend's invitation. After her initial class, Pam knew that a door had been opened to an entirely new way of being with her body and with herself. She began to delve deeply into her own personal healing journey, discovering for herself what it means to be "healthy", of finding that balance and connection between body, mind and spirit. Pam began the process of fine tuning her awareness of how the elements of physical health, emotional well being and spirituality are woven together to create a fulfilling and meaningful life — she calls this the path of the heart. Her greatest desire is to share what she has learned within a supportive environment and to assist others as they deepen their awareness and connection within themselves.

As with all explorers, Pam's journey has called her in many directions, all of which have contributed to her deep sense of interconnectedness. As a Phoenix Rising Therapy Practitioner, Pam brings her skills as a Reiki Master and certified NIA teacher into her work. She has integrated meditation as a regular practice in her life and her work and feels meditation is an essential part of well-being. Pam holds a master's degree in Spiritual Psychology and is a registered nurse. Her studies and experience have attuned her ability to listen with her heart, creating an environment where her clients have an opportunity to deepen their self-acceptance, awareness and trust.
Yoga Instruction Options

One-on-One Yoga instruction:
Your own personal yoga class designed with your specific needs in mind. Great for beginning students who may feel intimidated by a yoga class or for those who may have physical limitations that require one-on-one instruction.

4-week Yoga class sequence:
A series of yoga classes specifically designed to build a foundation in the practice of yoga. Classes include a blend of yoga postures, breathing and meditation designed to help build a home yoga practice. Each class contains time to answer questions and review specifics of postures. A fun way to build discipline and accountability into your yoga practice!

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy:
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy was developed by its founder, Michael Lee, after he discovered emotional releases that occurred during yoga classes. PRYT is based on the belief that our bodies hold every experience, thought, emotion, etc. During a typical session, you are supported in each posture; this support allows you to experience the posture on many different levels. For example, a position that expands your chest may help you attune to the wisdom of your heart. Dialogue is used to help you remain fully present in the experience. Most people feel more relaxed and centered and open after a session.

Meditation Practice:
Offered one-on-one or in a class format, meditation techniques and practical experiences are used to explore the benefits of meditation. Meditation practices are used to help quiet your mind so your can begin to hear your inner wisdom.

NIA/Movement Classes:
NIA (Neuromuscular Integrative Action) is a fusion of three movement forms: healing arts, dance arts and martial arts. A blend of music and movement are used to help you reconnect to the joy of movement! Classes can be done one-on-one or in a larger group.

Reiki Session:
Reiki, a Japanese technique, is used for stress reduction and relaxation both of which promote healing. The Reiki practitioner uses the "laying of hands" to facilitate a positive flow of "life force energy." The basis of Reiki is that an unseen "life force energy" (chi) flows through us and is what gives us life. If your "life force energy" is high, you are move capable of being healthy and happy; if your "life force energy" is low, you are more likely to feel stress and become sick.

What to expect during a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Session

A Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Session differs from a traditional yoga class in its format and content. Most sessions take place on the floor on a thickly padded shiatsu mat. We begin with a centering, allowing you to release the events of the day and settle in. Pam will lead you through a body scan, encouraging you to notice anything that comes up while focusing on your body.  After moving through some simple supported warm-up exercises, Pam guides you into a series of yoga poses that were specifically chosen using your centering/body scan information and the intention of your session. In an environment that is safe and supportive, Pam supports you in the yoga stretch, allowing the body to let go and the mind to come to a place of calm and stillness. Pam uses a dialogue process throughout the session to support you in your own discoveries about your body, mind and spirit. The session ends with an integration that allows you to connect what you discovered during your session to your life. Most sessions take place on the floor, however, adaptations can be made to accommodate most needs.
